Energic Project Sav – Energic B1

 

Un des rares premiers Energic B1 confirme les moteurs des premiers motoculteurs Energic

J’ai eu beaucoup de chance car j’ai pu trouver un des rares premiers motoculteurs Energic B1 dont le numéro de série est 11. Ce motoculteur a été trouvé à seulement 52kms de l’usine à Villefranche-sur-Saone où il est resté pour travailler. Il avait été gardé à l’abri par son propriétaire, qui savait qu’il venait du premier lot de motoculteurs de Monsieur Patissier.

Très peu de B1 3cv ont été fabriqués et parmi ceux-là on peut compter sur les doigts de la main ceux qui restent encore à nos jours – beaucoup de choses ont pu se passer en plus de 80 ans. Le B1 était un modèle très avancé dans les années 1930, mais n’avait pas assez de puissance avec seulement 3cv pour 240kg et avait tendance à surchauffer lorsqu’il était en condition de travail. Le même moteur pouvait alimenter un motocycle motobécane qui pesait 70kg. Il a dû chercher une solution rapidement. Au final il a réussi à faire un moteur 5cv et un poids de 300kg avec un double poids sur les roues et un poids pour le devant. Ceci était placé sur un nouveau châssis en forme de berceau qui se refroidissait plus rapidement à l’aide d’un nouveau système avec deux ventilateurs.

Le type B1 étaient les premiers motoculteurs de Monsieur Patissier sous la nouvelle marque Energic et ils étaient manufacturés en même temps que les premiers Energic A type moto-treuil.
I phoned Laurent and off I went to near Villefranche-sur-Saone the homeland of the Energic brand. It took 4+ hours but on arrival all my prayers for that day had been answered. I was looking at one of the original batch/production run model of the illusive B1. Not much was known about these extremely rare early models in fact only 1 piece of advertising literature exists detailing this model but not this early type – JACKPOT!

I immediately took off the hood to reveal a motobecane 2 stoke 250 type E engine (actually 240cc), What a find! This puts to bed all the stories of different types of engines for the original b’s. But I know that in B5 guise they use different engine manufacturers. The original Energic motoculteur B1 motobecane moteur was just 3cv.

A very compact 2 stroke engine manufactured from 1927/1930 then reissued in 1932/3 for a small production run.

This early model had just 1 fan. This design was changed to a double fan very quickly to avoid overheating problems

This side is worse than the other with more wear on the clutch pin.
