Kohler Engines/moteurs.
Origins 1920’s.
The Kohler Co. was founded in 1873 in America by an Austrian immigrant John Michael Kohler and Charles Siberzahn at Sheboygan with the purchase of the Union iron and steel foundry, funded by Kohler’s father-in-law Jacob Vollrath for approx. 5 000 dollars. They initially produce farm implements in cast iron and steel. In 1883 Jean Michael applied enamel to cast iron to form the first bathtub! Kohler still to this day has a major interest in the plumbing markets. They also later produced bubbler drinking fountains using their patented valves.
In 2007 they acquired the Lombardini group and are now one of the worlds leading engine and generator manufacturers.
They now continue to manufacture, plumbing products, furniture, tiles, cabinetry, generators and engines. Their latest acquisition is the Clarke engineering group, based in the UK, further strengthening their market leadership in engineering, construction, installation and maintenance of engine-based power units.
With over 32 000 employees they are a large multinational engineering company with 145-year trading history, with head offices in Wisconsin USA.
