Energic motoculteurs models B1, B5, C7 and D9 used the brand Novi Magnetos from 1929/30 to 1939/40. As Novi was a synonymous brand supplier to Motobecane. (After that date on the new in house manufactured models 409 & 411 modèles la fabrication de magnéto a été changée en Morel ou Lavalette pour assurer l'approvisionnement et des prix compétitifs).

The Magneto used in the Energic B1 was a Novi D50 – VD. The V being signifying variable advance and the D signifying droit/right. A sa manière un magnéto rare – see early Energic B1 motoculteurs here. The D50 – Les magnétos VD ont également été utilisés dans les moteurs latéraux Motobécane type G et H sous forme 350 / 500cc. (There was a D50 – VG available used in 350/500 OHV moteurs (Culbuteurs) engines of the 1929/30 era’s.)

Energic motoculteurs B5, C7 and D9 models used different versions of the Novi Magnetos depending upon the age of the motoculteur. Before and including the 407/408 models, they used the longer type 114 and H-50-, both with a mechanism to advance or retard the ignition timing. Later the newer smaller type M511(VD), utilisait une étincelle d'allumage statique et était disponible sur les motoculteurs à moteur S Bloc.

Parfois, ces modèles ont été interchangés en tant que pièce de rechange.
